1984 UPDATE

This story should outrage you. This should be headline news all across America. Our civil liberties and natural freedoms are disappearing right before our eyes! I am not Chicken Little!

So, in Wisconsin the Police Force can attach a GPS device to your vehicle without a warrant and without suspicion...And they claim that does not violate your Constitutional Rights!?! You do not need to give up your freedoms in order for the Federal Government to protect you! This is absolute madness. All of those sci-fi movies are coming true...Was George Orwell a prophet? Or did his work of fiction just inspire the Federal Government to come up with creative backdoor ways to rob the American Citizen of his right to privacy, freedom, and free speech? What's next? The Thought Police?

"Officers do not need to get warrants beforehand because GPS tracking does not involve a search or a seizure, Judge Paul Lundsten wrote for the unanimous three-judge panel based in Madison."

BELOW IS THE JUDGE OF WISCONSIN WHO HELPED MAKE IT POSSIBLE FOR WISCONSIN POLICE OFFICERS TO STALK ANY CITIZEN WITH A GPS DEVICE WHETHER THEY ARE SUSPECTS OF A CRIME OR NOT!!! I PROPOSE A WRITING CAMPAIGN FROM ALL AMERICANS WHO DO NOT BELIEVE IN GIVING UP FREEDOMS AND RIGHTS IN ORDER TO FEEL "SAFER" BECAUSE BIG BROTHER IS WATCHING...

BELOW IS A FUNCTIONAL LINK TO THE STORY AS REPORTED IN THE CHICAGO TRIBUNE:

Judge Paul Lundsten

Court of Appeals - District IV
10 East Doty Street, 7th floor
Madison, WI 53703-3397

UPDATE!!!!

I read another article with a quote from Judge Lundsten:

http://www.jsonline.com/news/wisconsin/44535492.html

"We are more than a little troubled by the conclusion that no Fourth Amendment search or seizure occurs when police use a GPS or similar device as they have here. So far as we can tell, existing law does not limit the government's use of tracking devices to investigations of legitimate criminal suspects. If there is no Fourth Amendment search or seizure, police are seemingly free to secretly track any one's public movements with a GPS device."

Lundsten added that the court, sitting in Madison, also is concerned about the private use of global positioning system surveillance devices. While there are legitimate private uses, "there are also many private uses that most reasonable people would agree should be prohibited."

After reading the above quote from the judge...which was conveniently left out of the original story..I was reassured and decided to write the Judge and explain to him that I was encouraged by his stance and to send me a contact email or phone # to let Wisconsin Legislators know that citizens across America want some regulation on GPS tracking...

This is scary stuff. With the age of computers and technology upon us, it would seem that there will be no end to the madness. Hopefully this case will be brought up to a higher court to be overturned.
